I would like to get copies made of several family photographs to include in photo albums for my children. These photos were taken by professional photographers, but I have no idea of the name of the photographer, the studio, or in some instances the city or state. A lot of these photos were taken before 1978, so I assume they are part of the public domain and I can have them copied. Correct? What about those taken after 1978? Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Also, one more question. How can a wedding photographer or his studio be considered the copyright owner of wedding photos? The client pays for the photographer's time, film, and the proofs(before they are even taken) and a tip is expected on top of that, and I don't think there has been an original wedding photo in the last 10 years.
