: : HOW DO I COPYRIGHT A SONG? Dear Mr. Nickelson, Copyrights have to be registered in the Copyright Office. Names can be registered as Trademarks or service marks in the Patent Office. Copyights are relatively inexpensive and good for life plus 70 years. Trademarks can be good forever. Trademarks are more expensive that copyrights. Find a intellectual property lawyer you can trust. The price is not as important as knowing that you can get what you want not just pay a fee and get a piece of paper. M. Arthur Auslander
