: : : Are google's cached pages "fair use"?

: : : I am reviewing and featuring Web sites, and I want to know if I need explicit permission to copy pages or parts thereof.

: : : If you enter www.interproplaw.com into google.com, press enter, and click on "Show Google's cache of www.intelproplaw.com" you should see the cached page of this site (actually all htm shtml and so on pages are cached).

: : : Google.com is the Web's number one search engine.

: : Dear Mr. Oakely,
: : Without making a study of the case law or the statute, my guess is that they techincally are not.

: > What can one do? Copyright is probably the biggest legal Internet issue. Google is probably the biggest search around. Should we be able to follow their example, and reproduce pages for purposes of commentary, features and related usage?

: The google pages are available to anyone with an Internet connection, and therefore people need not actually visit the original site, but just google for many of the orginal site's services.

Dear Mr. Oakley,

It is my unresearched view that the copying on a VCR is copyright infringement. It is as hard to follow and police a photocopies in an office. I also understand that there may be so licencing system now for office some photocopying.
