: i,m currently writing a script, and i plan on using some song titles and artists names in my script.......is this legal without infringing on any copyright laws. Also as this is my first script, i was wondering how i would go about copyrighting it myself. Dear Mr. Mcguinness, The tough part may have nothing to do with copyright, that is getting someone to but. It would be wise to show in confidence. Even there there are risks. Ideas are not easy to protect and they can be easy to copy. I had one situation where a book manuscript was rejected and the theme idea copied for a book that was not an infringement. When you are relegated to the law of unfair competition, it is vague and legally expensive even if you can win. M. Arthur Auslander Auslander & Thomas-Intellectual Property Law Since 1909
