: I have heard differing opinions on whether source code is copyrighted. Do most software developers actually register the copyright to their source code while in development? Is is copyrighted once developed? Is any software patented?
: thanks!
Source code is covered under the copyright statute. Enforcement requires a registration. Each developer does what they think best. Unused software usually should not have an exposure to need registration. Some software can be patented if it is novel in how it does what it does.
