: I own a small newspaper and have an employee : that works for me that sometimes does some : historical research for herself then writes : an acticle on the findings. I know I have : first time printing rights since they are : always published first in my paper; however, : she would like to publish the articles in : other magazines, ect. : The question is how do I release : the artilces back to her. : Is there a form letter she can : submit with her articles to other publishers? : : Thanks : jamie The solution is simple, but too complex to fully answer here. Basically unless you have a written agreement, the copyright law as I understand it without researching it, requires a written agreement for the employer to own the writers work. There are some statutory execptions. M.
