: Greetings,
: I would like to know how I would proceed with having my poetry copywrtitten?. I have over 100 poems that I have written in the last two years. Is the poor mans way adviceable?. I know the fee for copywritten is $30.00, does it matter how many pages are being copywritten or is that a flat fee?. Because I am breaking my work down for publishing in 2 or 3 books should I have it copywritten by book?. I know that if I go the poor mans way I would lose the option of being heard at Federal court and having the attorney fees paid. What options would I have if somehow my work was stolen using the poor mans way?.
: Your response is greatly appreciated THANK YOU

Dear Debra Banks,

What you create is covered by the law. Registration is for published and/or unpublished works.

An unpublished copyright registration seems to me to usually be a waste of money. I have read a section of statute that I don't understand that seem so suggest that a registered unpublished work does not seem to have to be reregistered if published. I've seen no cases on this.

All talk is really a waste. Unless you have a publisher for the work, it is usually a waste of time, money and worry to register the copyright. If you have a publisher, the publisher will take care of registration. If you publish youself, all you have to do is to be able to sell the published work.

Once published it is important to register quickly to preserver all rights.
