: I would like to post some excerpts from published works on a developing website. : Do we need to seek & obtain formal permissions before proceeding? : Thanks in advance for any help on this. : Don Osborn Dear Mr. Osborn, Without taking professional responsibility, what you suggest may well be copright infringment, particuarly if the excerpts are more than a few words. It would seem to me that you can use the information as distinguished from translating and even refer to the source. This may avoid any possible problem. The problem is copying or translating a mode of expression not so much the content of the message. M. Arthur Auslander Auslander & Thomas-Intellectual Property Law Since 1909
