Dear Mr. Fowler, While the copyright law cover a work from the moment of creation, properly protecting a work requires an understanding of the statute. The first rule is to publish with a UCC copyright notice. After that the application registration on a regular basis cost $30 in Official Fees. It takes from 3 weeks to 9 or ten months to get the Certificate. Rush filing cost $550 in Official fees, and is mostly limit to litigation situations.
