: what is the process of getting my poems and songs copywritten? And how do I sell them?
The is no clear answer about selling. That is the most important part. If you find the market and have what the market wants it may not be hard.
One big risk is that copyright covers a mode of expression not the idea. An author once came to be with a manuscript that had been show to a publisher.
The publisher took the idea and had a sucessful book published. The author may have had a cause of action for unfair competition but could not afford the fee to fight.
The copyright law protects the mode of expression of the creation, registration allows enforcement.
West Side Story might not have been an infringement of Romeo and Juliet, if Shakespeare had a live copyright at the time.
