: : Amy Dear Amy, It's a cold cruel world out there. You have a copyright on what you have created, registration enables enforcement. It is seldom worth the $30 filing fee to get an unpublished copyright. The tough thing to do is to get the work published, not just writing and registering a copyright. What is more even with a copyright you have no guarantee. I had a client that submitted a book to a publisher. The publisher reject the book but like the theme and got another other to write a book on the novel theme. There was no copyright infringment, there may have been unfair competition. M.
