Colors[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Rob on March 29, 1999 at 10:42:04: I offer a software product that (among other things) matches colors to existing palettes of colors from paint (and other medium) suppliers. As a good selection of manufactured palettes increases the value of my product, I've been contacting manufacturers to obtain permission to use their palettes (with full credits and links). I've been asking them to provide me with the palettes. I've received quite a bit of interest but the process can be slow so I'd like to just publish them without permission. So, if I scan in (or otherwise match to the best of my ability) colors from a manufacturer's product line, can I use those colors, names and product numbers in my product? It seems that I am actually promoting their products for free and they would be hard-pressed to prove damages but I don't want to get into trouble. Thanks,
