While I cannot offer much advice on where you can find the list, after reading the previous posting, I should inform you that if you intend to record your own versions of old songs that are now in the public domain you should have no problem. However, if you intend to use a recording of a song that is in the public domain - you need to be sure that the recording itself is also in the public domain - else you may be really singing the blues. Compilation albums that remaster the music that have have been released more recently cannot be freely copied. "Essential Blues" by the House of Blues has a two disk set of oldies that you should check out, for example.
