Hi. I'm new here and I use the internet a lot to find information
on video games. Once in a while, I get stuck on a game and I find
some strategy guides on the internet which were created by someone.
At the bottom, or top, there is almost always a copyright notice
indicating that the strategy guide is under protected under copyright
law. I recently made my own strategy guide for a video game and I was
wondering how to copyright it in a likewise manner. There was a website
(http://www.gamefaqs.com) that had a collection of these guides, and on it they
said that your strategy guide is already protected under copyright law so
you can put up a notice about it. My question is: Is this true? Does this
mean that I don't have to register my strategy guide that is online only
and that it is already protected under copyright? If so, can I use any name
as the owner of the copyright, such as an alias? For example, can I say at the
bottom "Copyright 1999 by bigalf" or something along those lines, or must I
use my full name.
I would appreciate any information you can give me. It would be preferrable if
you can send any information to my e-mail address (aaburto@connect.ab.ca)
