: : : Any of you have any thoughts on the Napster case?
: : : Can Napster be held liable for copyright infringement
: : : simply by "turning their shoulder?"

: : Dear Tim,

: : Napster is lucky to be alive under the law as it stands.

: Then how about companies that produce MP3 players? or CD-burners? Are they
: not providing means for copyright infringements as well? Do you think

: suffer the same fate as Napster?

Dear Tim,

The makers of the the machines like the VCR, MP3 are not infringers. The users are. I expect the other out fits will get their day.

The may be a licencing system developing like ASCAP. Then you will have to pay.
