: : : : Some modern theatrical directors are "deconstructionists"-- I do not believe this is a good way of building a relationship betwen a director or a playwright. I feel as a theatre designer that a play is a tool as much as an actor or a piece of furniture, one person and one person should have ultimate control over the look, sound, order of scenes etc and be total responsible for the macro vision of the work. It is the director in my opinion who must have this right. Therefore we should be looking at how playwrights and designers etc work together with the director to make the directors "Vision" successful. Wouldn't it be a nicer world if we could live in a world without the need for lawyers. One day we will all be civilized and work together on something really useful!
