: : My daughter is doing a high school english paper on Jacob Lawrence and needs to attach a "quality reproduction" of the piece of work she has selected to write about. Is it a violation of copywrite laws to Xerox copy, in color, the picture of the painting from a book?
: : Thanks for your help.
Dear Mr. Federspeil,
Yes is the unresearched answer.
There may even be some licencing system considered or in place for big systems for photcopying.
I believe that downloading a TV movie on a cassette is an infringment. I have not heard of a court case on this matter. It is too hard to police. VCRs are not in themselves illegal.
