: I've always been told that titles cannot be copyrighted. However, the name of my web page has been called into question, and someone has told me that titles can be copyrighted by a corporation (something I believed to be more like a trademark).

: So, can a title be copyrighted?
Titles books are not copyrightable. Titles are generally not even registerable as a trademarks. A web page title may be a trademark (or a service mark). The owner of a trademark has the right to register, if the mark is appropriately used. An individual can own a trademark.
