Board Game Copyrights[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Jeff on December 27, 2000 at 00:19:00:
I'm interested in producing board games. It seems many games out there copy playing dynamics from previously copyrighted games. I'm not clear how close a game's playing dynamics can be to a competitor's without inviting legal troubles. Take Monopoly as an example. There are many versions of this game with all different game, card, and property names. Yet the play is essentialy the same. I can't imagine the producers of Monopoly get a cut of sales for all those knock offs, so do they have a course of action to sue?
