Thank you for responding. I will be more specific:
If a hypothetical publishing company was publishing the work of a hypothetical author who wished to remain anonymous and was publishing under a pseudonym, then what are
a) the rights and
b) the extent to which the hypothetical publishing company can fabricate a fictitious biography for the hypothetical author to be used exclusively for promotion purposes and not in any legal document that requires legal name and/or signature, given that the hypothetical author fully consents. For example could the hypothetical publishing company give an imaginary birth date and nationality to the hypothetical author in a brochure promoting the author?

Thanks again,
Julius

: : Is it against the law to give fictitious biographical information about a pseudonymous author, assuming the real author consents?

: Dear Julius,
: You won't know until the judge and jury hear the facts and law.

: If you are going to fudge something, your cautious approach is a good way to go. It would not be a good idea to set forth something here that in fact may be actionable or criminal.

: It would be unethical for a lawyer to counsel an illegal act. A lawyer could advise as to the potential of liabililty or of a crime, given a hypothetical factual situation.
