: I posted this message last month regarding a book I wrote, and a state politician who has plagiarized from it to their own book with out even a footnote, mention, etc. My Publisher and anyone else who has seen this plagiarism has noted that it is one of the most blatent samples ever seen. The problem is that my publisher also published a book by this individual. Thusfar, my publisher has sent certified letters to the publisher, and this author citing the "numerous" plagiarized passages (sent 10/2/00). Thusfar, there have been no responses from either the publisher or the author. The author has their own company and was recently re-elected to a high state political position. This person comes from a political family and has a number of political connections. This person's book and author has won an award from a university (ON PLAGIARIZED MATERIAL!). I am on the other hand am a Probation Officer who just got very lucky and published a book to help save lives and educate the public. Am I upset about this entire sordid affair? Damn right. Will I get justice? Probably not. Obviously this politician knows they hold the power, the money and clout, and also know that individuals like myself can't muster the funds to go after them. They know this. David vs Goliath? You call it..... I cannot afford the $250.00 per hour most attorneys charge, so that is why I'm making my plea to this forum, (I know contengency fee cases are not popular. If there are any attorneys out there that would be willing to look at the plagiarized material and at least tell me if I have a case, at least I will have some knowledge that this pursuit is not in vain. My name is Steven L. Sachs and my book website is at: www.http://gangwise.com Thank you all for your time.
