Copyright of Repair Procedures[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by J. Lewis on November 06, 2000 at 22:07:31: I need to know if repair procedures, specifically factory automotive repair manuals, are protected and to what extent. It is my understanding that the procedure itself is not protected but the way it is expressed is. If it is expressed differently can it be reproduced? How much different does it have to be? What about images contained within the procedure? How much would the images have to be changed, if at all. I know of some companies that copy such manuals word for word without permission and they resale the information. How do they get around the copyright? Any help will be greatly appreciated. J
