: I plan to create a homepage in which I quote or cite information from books, or newspapers, magazine etc. Since I plan to make the web page a useful guide or database for users, I may have to cite or quote information from published books. If I show the source of the information, author, published date and also show the links to the author's homepage, would it be allowed in terms of copywright law?
: And if I summarize the information from the books, would it be considered OK from the copywright perspective? I just want to clear this question out before I open the homepage.
Dear Mr. Kusakabi,
The copyright law protects the mode of expression. It does not take away the right of free speach. You can give the information but not copy it. You could give me a call.
