: : : : Hi, : : : I need some advise. I have a Christian website and am wanting to add the RealEncoder which would allow me to have not only midis on my site, but be able to actually have songs(with voices) on my site. : : : Now here's what I'm wanting to do and need to know if there could be any copywrite problems at all. : : : The singers of these songs would not be the original singers or song writers of the gospel songs. These will be singers from different churches. We are not doing this to sell anything tapes or CD's or to : : : imitate artist. We are only wanting to do this so that we can glorify God and bless other people by allowing them to hear the songs and singers online. We do not want to do this if there is any chance of : : : either the singers or myself being sued or anything. Please let me know if what we are wanting to do legal and not against copywrite of the songs. These will all be : : : gospel songs. Again, the singers will be church members and not the original singers or song writers. : : : I need an answer just as quick as you can get it to me. : : : Thank you and God bless you. : : : Love in Christ Jesus, : : There are different aspects of what you want to do. The music can be used with the payment of statutory royalties. It is often better to get blanket licences. There is some consideration in the law for Charitable organizations but there are still limits even for religious organizations. Then there are questions of performing rights. I could be a big problem despite your higher purpose. : : M. Dear Mr. Jackson, The picture takers are entitled to copyrights on their pictures even if the pictures infringe your copyright. Do you have a registered copyright. The symbol may be more of a collective trademark. Commercial use by others of their pictures may ve a violation of your rights. Just taking pictures is legal. M.
