: : Is there a law against copying CDs into MP3 format and sharing them on the internet? I'm talking completely free, just sharing them for no profit....
Dear Mr. Kachain,
The copyright law protects the copyright owner from others using the creators work product without paying for it or getting permission to use.
Just today I saw that MP3 has made some kind of settlement for copyright infringment.
Sharing for no profit is at the cost to the artist.
You can sell or give away your CD's freely but you can't reproduce them, where copyright is involved without infringement.
