: Hello:
: My name is Angela, and I really need information, on where and how to copywright a song, that I just wrote recently. It is a christian song, and I have no idea where to go, or what to do. I would like to hurry and get it copywrighted as SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! A friend of mine is actually trying to steal my song, and if I dont get it copywrighted, I cant prove that I wrote it!! So, I would GREATLY appreciate ANY information that you could help me with! Thank you!! Angela....

Dear Angela,

The copyright law protects you from the monent of creation. Registration only gives the right to sue. The official Government filing fee for a copyright application is $30.

If there is a big rush to have an issued registration so that you can go to court, aside for all the other legal cost, the official Government filing fee is about $550.

What seems more important for you at this time is for you to be able to gather evidence to prove that you are the author of the work.
