Yang on July 28, 2000 at 17:00:48: I am writing a software program for children using alot of Classical and Impressionistic paintings as background using works from daVinci, Renoir, Monet, etc. All art works >100 years old.... 1) can the owner such as the National Gallery have power over it's use and require permission for use in my program 2) when some (c) a photograph of monet's "lilypads", is it really Copywrited? 3) What really is public domain?
