: I have just started a business that creates announcements using client's pictures.(baby pictures and engagement pictures mostly) If they send a professional photo, they are supposed to send a release from the photographer. But, if they do not, and I unknowingly reproduce a professional photo, will I will violate the copywright laws or would that be their responsibility? Is there a clause that I could have them sign to free me of this responsibility? Thank you in advance for your answer. Christina
You show a good awareness of protecting yourself under the law. A simple release can be prepared to cover you.
Basically if there is no copyright notice on the picture there is less exposure if there is even a registered copyright.
