I worked for a company and produced a payroll program for their use, I understand that this would fall under a work for hire for copyright issues. However, since I left the employer they sent me the source code and asked for changes, I have NOT been paid for the changes, which involved a virtual rewrite of the program, so my question is this: Do I own the copyright to the new version since I did it on my own time and not working for them? And do I have the right to license it to them for a fee? Or do they still own it because I originally created it for them? Please e-mail me with a response. Thanks for your help everyone.
