: : : how do i patent an idea that i am working on? : : Ideas are not patentable. If you tell anyone or use the invention, before filing a patent applicatin, you lose almost all foreign rights. Dealing with a patent lawyer does not destroy the foreign rights. A patent search may be warranted. Even bad patents are expensive. I conduct a Reality Check before even considering spending money on a patent search. : : M.
